I get the same thing in Chrome 35 on Windows 7 and it looks pretty ugly; it goes away if I disable ClearType, and Firefox doesn't have the same issue (nor does Chrome on OS X).
There's a flag for enabling DirectWrite in about:flags in Chrome 35; if I enable that it looks fine, and I assume eventually that's going to hit mainline. Given that Chrome on Windows appears to be the only browser that has this issue, should we close this?

DirectWrite should be on reasonably soonish; we just pushed 36 to stable.
The top of letters get cut off, everywhere as far as I can tell. This seems to go away if I change it over the font to comic sans. Windows 8.0 Chrome Version 36.0.1985.67 beta-m
Firefox looks fine....
