Design/come up with an application icon #52

Open gavanderhoorn opened 8 years ago

It would be nice if the application had a custom icon, instead of the default-application icon.

+1 on logo 2

gavanderhoorn commented 8 years ago

Hm. Perhaps some more construction references in there? A crane or something?

Looks like a demolition crane  We don't want to draw details too small, it makes things look ugly when resized to a small icon.

gavanderhoorn commented 8 years ago

I was thinking more like a tower crane.

Getting there :).

This is great! Glad to see things like this happening. What about a visual version of:

Logo 5

 C A D
 * 2 *
 R O S

BTW, I'm not very creative, so feel free to shoot down my idea.

ShawnSchaerer commented 8 years ago

I like it.

One more picture.

That is pretty attractive @akgoins ! Once we have voting results, I will call for a run-off.

pbeeson commented 8 years ago

I wasn't going to vote given the original sheet, but I have to say that I prefer the latest @akgoins contribution.

Top vote = 3 points Middle vote = 2 points Third vote = 1 point Latest "+1" votes are considered "top votes" (and replaces last top vote if the user has already voted)

I attributed ShawnSchaerer top vote to logo 1. shaun-edwards top vote was converted to logo 13 (instead of logo 2).

Black background or white? Both of these are presented in 256 x 256 pixel format.

VictorLamoine commented 8 years ago

Transparent! Take a look at the screenshots: http://answers.ros.org/question/226588/how-do-i-create-a-desktop-application-for-ros/

Filled background is not advised for ubuntu icons; but with a transparent background you have to make sure everything is big enough so that it looks good.
