RSE Asia
About us
The RSE Asia Association was built as a project during Open Life Science (Cohort-4) by Saranjeet Kaur and Jyoti Bhogal. They launched the association online on Thursday, 14th October 2021. This day holds special significance as it is the first International RSE Day. The association also benefited from the work done during the Open Life Science program (OLS-5) and the Pilot Mentoring Programme of the Society of Research Software Engineering.
Our Mission
To promote and build the Research Software Engineering Community and Profession in the Asian region while also fostering global collaborations.
Our activities
We have conducted and continue to conduct various online community activities:
- Celebrated one year of our launch on the Second International RSE Day, which was on the second Thursday of the month of October 2022.
- Participated in Hacktoberfest 2022 during the month of October 2022.
- Formed a working group in 2022.
- Conducted an online workshop for teaching alt text skills (2022).
- At our launch event we conducted activities for contributing to Hacktoberfest 2021. The launch event was fully online.

We follow the Code of Conduct of the Society of Research Software Engineering.
