This would be my preferred default. I don't really use BibTex so having the bib-tex key be the title is very confusing for me. I could see this being in the page metadata though...
Big concern in switching is that there are more likely to be duplicates, in that case the standard might be to add a few words from the title after the date - or to use letters (a, b, c,...).
