Sprint 3/4 "Tweaked" Settings #28

Closed seabar24 closed 2 months ago

This will be updated with progress/reporting of tweaking the default/baseline settings of the different versions for Wifi.

This will be using a tool called OpenWRT in conjunction with other tools I will use. I will update later when closing out what tools I used.

I will also be updating the Capstone Stuff Directory with new folders for documenting the results of the tweaked settings.

Still need to work with OpenWrt to tweak settings. Will try downloading on laptop and messing around with iPhone and Laptop to see results. This needs to be done as soon as Sprint 3 Baseline is complete!

It appears the U6 Pro (Wifi 6) Access Point is not supported in OpenWrt. Will have to look into an alternative method for "tweaking" it.

Connected Laptop using SPARE-05 Ethernet, used spare Amazon Basic USB to Ethernet Adapter and connected the laptop and Access Point Directly. Then had the Access point connected to the PoE Injector and set on the same LAN as the Laptop.

From there, I was able to connect to the OpenWrt page using http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci. The root credentials were root and a blank password, switched those once logged in and was able to configure to mess around with the Wifi Settings. I reset up my Access Point by Going over to Network>Wireless. Removed a couple of the other OpenWrt Networks. And setup a new ESSID named Capstone Wifi with these configs:

Network: lan being the lan connection for the Access Point. IMPORTANT SO DEVICES CAN ACTUALLY CONNECT TO THE ACCESS POINT!!!!!!

Save and then make sure to Save & Apply afterwards for changes to take effect!!!!

Going to be exploring more of OpenWrt (may not be able to do Wifi 4 AP since it doesn’t have a 2nd Ethernet Port to connect to the Laptop directly. Unless I find a way to make AP connections to OpenWrt Wireless)

Have OpenWrt Documentation page setup. Demos setup/configuration of OpenWrt, shows different settings, and then has a compare/contrast with Unifi.

Moving to close since OpenWrt docunmentation and presentation are done.
