10 years ago We have the "button at the end" but the origin button doesn't yet change into a circle like in Self.
Re a connector dropped in the middle of nowhere, the only mailing list response said they would expect it to recoil like a vacuum cord. I could envision a gesture just like a vacuum cord where you pull it out slightly to ask it to recoil.
In Self, when you click a = button, the button itself moves to the other end of the connector and sticks to the top left of the value outliner. One thing I don't like is that you can pick it up and drop in in the middle of nowhere, but when you move the target, it re-attaches. I would think that it would break the link (nil it out). I'll ask on the ml if there's a use case...
