My suggestion is to add an option in settings or button (just like 'Show craftable') to only show recipes available for opened container (menu).
If that's not possible or might be too complicated or performance consuming, I'd love to see an optional list for modpack creators that would allow to type 'default' search querries to perform when container (menu) is in focus. So at least, it will be possible to show available recipes by searching mod names / tags.
Or may be both :3
How I think it will improve the experience?
With recipe book disabled it might be difficult / time-consuming to look for specific recipes in REI/JEI (tags help sometimes, but not in all cases). Especially it starts to be frustrated while doing Cooking mods with cooking pots (like Farmer's Delight or Let's Do Meadow) without vanilla recipe book enabled.
