Nourishment #19

Fulfilled majority of acceptance criteria within nourishment issue. Should provide a good basis for components and observer patterns but by no means complete.

Can you merge latest dev into this branch to pickup changes to xunit versions and make sure it's all compilable again please? Github can fast forward this merge because there's no file conflicts, but I don't think it would build post-merge.
