Initial quote was wrong. I'm putting in the new figures here.
Here is an updated figures. Confusion had happened in labor estimate. My optician had his labor for both surfaces in one bucket and I doubled that for two separate surfaces. Anyway, labor makes sense but still other elements in the note are quite high.
Option 1: Refurbish the existing window
Cost = $35,503 Schedule = 3 month Scope Fine grinding and polishing optical surface to the spec Test plates and materials included Coating (shipping and insurance included) Option 2: New fab from a blank
Cost = $62,712 Schedule = 5 month Scope Procure blank Generating Rough/fine Grinding and polishing optical surface to the spec Test plates and materials included Coating (shipping and insurance included) Option 3: New fab + refurbish (2 windows)
Cost = $89,764 Schedule = 8 month NOTE:
Blank = $9,158 Tooling, Test plate and materials = $12,000 Coating = $9,000
For reference, I'm inserting a screenshot of the optical design for L4, the dewar window, here.
Chang-Jin is now collecting quotes from multiple vendors. including TORC and AOS.
Have not been keeping up with this. But new dewar window is complete, with AR coatings, and delivered to M. Lesser. Closing.
Due to the scratch in the current dewar window, we have decided to replace it rather than refurbish it (see this closed issue).
This thread will be focused on the replacement process.
