API's and Soonaverse closed down!

This week we're approaching end of the platform support as discussed several weeks back.

There will have to be several events triggered to finalize closure of Soonaverse and all related API's as SoonLabs is no longer able to support cost of these services. We're not able to pay Google, Algolia's and so on bills therefore we're unable to keep the services up. There are no funds! Any team member has not received any salary since last year...Note, last year salary was always going towards dev team so other members were without salary during many months last year as well! We continued to cover operation costs up to now. This includes legal, accounting, infrastructure, taxes and so on. Even with these massive constrains we continually developed until the end of April this year to make everything open source and finalize L1 tooling we were asked to build back in 2021.

If any entity comes along by EOW we can handover Google project we're happy to do so. This entity would have to take over Google Cloud, Algolia and Github billing. SoonLabs is closing down and it's unable to receive cash to cover those bills. Those accounts must be handover to billing contacts on Google, Algolia and Github! If not, export of DB will be included in this issue for anyone to load the DB, set-up the ENV and turn on Soonaverse again.

This week we will trigger following:

• Try to fix as many stuck transaction as we can (minting first, withdraw next)
• Withdraw ALL L1 assets to user's validate address and unsold minted NFTs to space's address.
• Shutdown all the services
• Dump the database. This database will be available for anyone to download. Artists can pull out information about un-minted collections and mint the collections themselves. In the database, they will also be all transactional data. (i.e. who owns what, etc.). It'll be a full dump!
• Soonaverse will be replaced with static page with shut down information.

I wish everyone all the best and I hope #IOTA / #SHIMMER will see activity and empowered community we saw back in early 2022. Soonaverse platform funded many projects in the #IOTA community through NFT marketplace. It was over $10m USD in a span of few months that all went to artists and projects owners. This includes delivering full integration into Stardust after that so these assets can exists on L1. SoonLabs didn't charge any fees! We're proud of that and glad too see many of these projects flourishing to continue drive #IOTA forward.

I'll continue to be cheerleader on the side and support #IOTA in my spare time when I can especially once IOTA 2.0 is live and L1 SC ready!

UPDATE Jul 7th 2024:

• most "write" api's were turned off. Member login and withdrawn NFT are still enabled.
• Taskforce (Izaya) helps to cover the infrastructure bill so Soonaverse can operate in it's current form.
• most "stuck" transactions are being resolved any other stuck transaction will try to be resolved. This is continuous effort.
• I've worked with Taskforce (Izaya) to figure out the best way to "mint" remaining assets so they don't have to mint through 3rd party. Those that artists decided not to mint for past two years ( don't ask me why ). Taskforce is working on securing resources to cover significant storage deposit and developer resource to write the "mass mint" script.
• Last step in the process. MASS WITHDRAW of ALL L1 assets. This will happen before full shutdown..

UPDATE Jul 8th 2024:

• all "write" api's were turned off.
• mass mint of un-minted NFT collections will most likely proceed tomorrow morning. As mentioned above, artists had over two years to do that but didn't. We want to help users here so we decided to proceed on behalf of artists. There were two options:
  • Option 1: Mint all NFTs within the Collection (including those that were not sold). Total cost ~90'000 IOTAs ($15'000 USD) in storage deposit. 330'000 NFTs.
  • Option 2: Mint only sold NFTs within the Collection. Total Cost 17'000 IOTAs ($2'550 USD) in storage deposit. 87'000 NFTs.
  • We've decided to go ahead with Option 2 because we have no way to get funds for Option 1. Artists can always mint the unsold NFTs directly on the L1 later. Artists can also do burn mechanism if they don't want their NFT on IOTA and want them instead on SHIMMER or EVM. We'll cover the cost out of pocket :'(
• We'll proceed with MASS WITHDRAW of ALL L1 assets into users validated address.
• Soonaverse will shutdown.

UPDATE Jul 11th 2024:

• ALL NFT collections have been minted.
• Most NFTs have been withdrawn. NFT's for members without validated address were not withdrawn (we don't know where to send them). See HUGE spike of traffic on the IOTA explorer. Amazing work @flyingrabbit-lab!!!
• Soonaverse front-end was shutdown to reduce cost of some expensive services (such as Algolia). Soonaverse still operates basic "member" profile. Just type in https://soonaverse.com/member/ to load it! This is enabled because there are many users that have not validated their address. They will have to validate their address so NFT withdraw can be completed for them.

2. Validate your IOTA or SMR Address

We will proceed with L1 asset withdraw in 3 days for all those members that have validated their address. Validate your address ASAP.

If we can't fix it by eow, your funds are not lost. We can always handover mnemonics to "responsible party" that can distribute these locked funds securely. They are not lost, they're just stuck. So to be clear, even if Soonavere shutdown those funds are not lost, they're just stucked and can be retrieved via mnemonics or through someone else operating the platform afterwards.

Hi @adamunchained , I'm trying to mint my spaces NFTs to IOTA but although the tx send is confirming in Firefly the Soonaverse UI doesn't confirm the receipt and the option to Mint to Decentralised network remains available. I'm trying to Mint to IOTA and burn the unsold. See imgs

Unfortunately nobody has came forward to help cover the bills therefore we will proceed this Sunday 7th of July with shutting down most of the services. This will not yet include APIs. These will be subsequently shutdown during the next week.

We are yet trying our best to help on executing stuck transactions and hopefully we will be able to help and resolve this.

Your locked soon is in your wallet. Not in Soonaverse. If you have any unclaimed SOON, just claim it.

There is an issue with transactions being stuck as mentioned above. We are trying our best to help the community and unstuck those transactions.

We are also looking into triggering mass withdraw (as mentioned above) of all assets from Soonaverse L1 addresses into users and spaces validated wallet address.

Okay, from this I conclude that I should do nothing more than wait for you to withdraw my NFTs. I also assume that my Soon token will remain locked and I will not receive any further staking rewards. That's a shame, but not as a big deal as the tokens are worthless anyway. Thank you!

There is no economical impact. Just ignore those NFTs on L1. They'll have no value unless you recognize them.. It can be just simply considered as snapshot of the collection instead.

You can also do a simple burn mechanism too if you really want to by asking users to send it to burner address. This is actually great validation for you to validate owners prior mint on L2.

I appreciate your concern. There are over 2000 collections. We don’t have resources to talk to every single collection owner. We just don’t. This issue has been here over a week and closing down of soonaverse information has been out there over a month. It was no raised here in time by you unfortunately. Majority users have complained that they don’t see their assets in their wallet and complained to us. Asked as to solved it, so decision was made based on a majority before shutdown.

But again, if you understand how DLT works you can just choose to ignore the mint. There is NO economical impact. In fact, anyone can mint collection multiple times on L1 that will look identical to “approved” one. You can just choose to ignore this collection and tell users to only consider collection that you approve. So your argument about economical impact does not hold at all. Same applies to token assets. It’s common practise in DLT. That’s why there are whitelists and blacklists!

You don’t have to use or even rely on L1/l2 bridge. Again, just ignore L1 collection and just consider it as snapshot stored on L1 instead of centralized database that might shutdown as it will.

All #IOTAPUNKS collections were minted by us in SMR and the storage deposit was paid. Now the question is what happens to the unsold NFTs, will they be sent to the creator or will they be lost. And what happens to the NFTs that were not sent because the address was not validated? Will they also be lost, or could they also be sent to the creator?

• Taskforce (Izaya) helps to cover the infrastructure bill so Soonaverse can operate in it's current form.
• most "stuck" transactions are being resolved any other stuck transaction will try to be resolved. This is continuous effort.
• I've worked with Taskforce (Izaya) to figure out the best way to "mint" remaining assets so they don't have to mint through 3rd party. Those that artists decided not to mint for past two years ( don't ask me why ). Taskforce is working on securing resources to cover significant storage deposit and developer resource to write the "mass mint" script.
• Last step in the process. MASS WITHDRAW of ALL L1 assets. This will happen before full shutdown..

• mass mint of un-minted NFT collections will most likely proceed tomorrow morning. As mentioned above, artists had over two years to do that but didn't. We want to help users here so we decided to proceed on behalf of artists. There were two options:

  • Option 1: Mint all NFTs within the Collection (including those that were not sold). Total cost ~90'000 IOTAs ($15'000 USD) in storage deposit. 330'000 NFTs.
  • Option 2: Mint only sold NFTs within the Collection. Total Cost 17'000 IOTAs ($2'550 USD) in storage deposit. 87'000 NFTs.
  • We've decided to go ahead with Option 2 because we have no way to get funds for Option 1. Artists can always mint the unsold NFTs directly on the L1 later. Artists can also do burn mechanism if they don't want their NFT on IOTA and want them instead on SHIMMER or EVM. We'll cover the cost out of pocket :'(
• We'll proceed with MASS WITHDRAW of ALL L1 assets into users validated address.
• Soonaverse will shutdown.

Esta semana nos acercamos al final del soporte de la plataforma como lo discutimos hace varias semanas.

Habrá que activar varios eventos para finalizar el cierre de Soonaverse y todas las API relacionadas, ya que SoonLabs ya no puede cubrir el costo de estos servicios. No podemos pagar las facturas de Google, Algolia, etc., por lo que no podemos mantener los servicios. ¡No hay fondos! Ningún miembro del equipo ha recibido salario desde el año pasado... he intentado y entrado a mi perfil de soonaverse, mis direcciones de IOTA y Shimmer ya estaban verificadas desde hace años, he ido ha ACTAS y la primera transacción que viene del del 11 de julio , justo la que viene por encima del 10 / 12 / 23 he ido a NFT , o a la transacción y me aparece una dirección de IOTA en el explorador que es esta Dirección Ed25519 iota1qzd0unysvgzttjwf2ymelh2wxnacw2c8e9kvf8rzsejpaa0emr7z7euuwnp y debajo Identificación Ed25519 con esta otra 0x9afe4c906204b5c9c951379fdd4e34fb872b07c96cc49c6286641ef5f9d8fc2f y ya debajo copio y pego viene lo siguiente

o pls solve this issue? i cancelled an order but the remaining funds never got returned (approx 2000$). i think this should be handled in a correct fashion before closing shop.

@flyingrabbit-lab thanks for solving the "stuck nfts" and the mass minting. after you are done with that, could u also pls look into the "stuck funds" issue (due to cancellations which failed to return the leftover funds). it's almost 10Gi so approx 1600$ so i would be grateful if you can take care of this as well.

• Member page has been shutdown. All read API's have been disabled. Only Soonaverse static page left on.
• We'll try to process remaining stuck transactions @gjeee / @tangler07
• We'll withdraw additional NFTs for members that have validated their address as requested

@IOTAPUNKS those transactions are fixed (some were duplicates, those have been removed) I am working on remaining stuck transactions for others as well
