I agree, I was concerned about the behavior. We should discuss what I saw and possibly how to handle it

@JR-Morgan @adamhathcock chat about the above, I can see where Adam's changes come from but to the general point, should it be possible for it to return null? If so and we've no control over that then this is better otherwise what do we do... ?

After reviewing with Jedd there isn't an issue
