add hermies as name for community #70

This PR is a bit more opinionated because it confirms a name for the "scuttleverse" community. My primary intention with this is to emphasize that people can join this thing without necessarily connecting with us.

Tentative PR, mostly intended to address this website visitor perception issue.

Went are we arguing about this, she's her own crab, she can call herself whatever she wants. We can invent a new adjective package naming system, or we can only use her name in person?

I think we should split the servers into domains of allegiance or interest.

Seriously eg

I want to help people see the spaces, and then reinforce that these are just local places you can stay meeting people, it's not like you are stuck with a monarch or body corp

I worry about calling the entire (known) scuttlebutt as it is today Hermies.

It makes for a nice clear cut marketing thing, and if you @staltz need this for your article, that's fine! But it just doesn't sit right with me saying such things on the scuttlebutt.nz website.

Starting to think that we should go a little bit federated style and cluster around pubs, grouping kind of like how @mixmix was discussing just above.

So I guess I'm kind of ⚠️ about this.

dominictarr commented 6 years ago

If the shoe fits, wear it.

If the name sticks, that is the name.

Just start using the name, inside the community, and see if other people start using it. Then, that is the name.

once we tried and failed to change the name "scuttlebutt" now people tell me they love the name and there are loads of plays on the name! That is the sign of a good name.

This PR was meant the stir up the conversation we just had here. :) Now I much more prefer the suggestion mix put, of mentioning various communities (even though they may have intersections).

A more practical PR I could send is to replace "the community" with "communities" everywhere in the handbook.
