First of all this is THE best Markdown plugin I've found for Wordpress, so the following comments are only ment as suggestions for future versions of the plugin.
Reference links: As of version 1.5.1 WP-markdown creates reference links by default. That's totally fine except in cases where I've made the references myself. In these cases my references are removed and replaced by numbers like:
[Visit my awesome website][1]
* Using backslash for hard line breaks: This could make better formating instead of two spaces before a linebreak is inserted. It is also easier to see.
* Allowing the user to tweak markdown format like github flaver Markdown, PHP Markdown Extra, Multimarkdown or Commonmarc
Will this plugin ever see an update on Wordpress again or are you changing to Github for the future of this?
