Hi peanut
The t3rmin8tor is still doing some work building the installer so its not quite ready yet he's just looking into creating 32 and 64bit builds of the installer and getting the path to python working on all versions of windows
I have tested the manual install of pilfer on windows, mac , linux and freebsd and everything works, recording from within kodi and on the command line and using mpv as an external player
I havent even tested the new desktop gui app yet so it may require a few tweaks, the t3rmin8tor is trying to get the installer working first on all versions of windows 32 and 64 bit and will then look at the gui app
Once the installer is complete and i have tested it i will do a new video and do the offical release of pilfer
I have tested pilfer with lots of the most popular addons and it records from everything so far except links that use a local proxy, which ill look into
Once pilfer is released it would be useful to have some testers to try recording and playing from different addons, then if there are any issue with recording from particular addons i can look into it
The idea would be to raise an issue on the pilfer github page with the following info
1 - name of add 2 - repository link, or zip download link 3 - paste the url thats not working
So i can install the repo and addon and examine the url and see what the issue is
Great news! You guys are awesome. I was just happy to get a video to play on an external player (mpv) without the damn cmd window coming up with a permission's denial message. I'll keep an eye out and send you any info to help.
hi peanut
the t3rmin8tor is just working on an issue with installing the scripts with pip and getting the gui desktop recording app to talk to the scripts
thats the last issues that need to be resolved
if you want to do a manual install of pilfer on windows the set up instructions are here should take about 15 mins to manually install
Do I need to uninstall everything the pilfer install package setup before I do the manual install?

hello Jack and Peanut 9779, I passionately follow your thread, and are looking forward to developments. I grab it. Paul :)
hi peanut
yes you need to unistall the pilfer installer before the manual install
if you look in the pilfer/system/bin folder you will see an uninstaller.exe just run the uninstaller then follow the steps in the windows manual install
the manual install doesnt install the desktop gui recording app im not sure if its possible to install the desktop app with the manual install ill have to check
but you can always unistall the manual install by running the python installer and select unistall python and removing the pilfer folder from your c drive
and then use the t3rmin8tor pilfer windows installer when its ready to install the scripts and desktop app
hi paolo
just 2 issue with the pilfer installer to resolve
1 - installing the scripts with python pip 2 - getting the desktop gui app working with the scripts
the t3rmin8tor is a certified windows software engineer and is building a custom installer that will work on windows 7 upto windows 10
Thanks Jack for the news, I will keep up to date and look forward to the final release. Good work and thanks for your answers.
Hi paolo and peanut
just been talking to the t3min8tor and there is an issue compiling the installer for windows 10
he has tried 3 different tools to compile the installer for windows 10 and they all failed which is very unusual and means there must be an issue with windows 10
it could be some bug or glitch in the latest windows 10 update which is stopping you from compiling software
so if you are running windows 10 it might be best to do a manual install and well try and figure out what the issue is with windows 10 not compiling software
hi chaps
just looking at a workaround for windows 10 to fix the installer
so may be able to get the installer working on windows 10 just need to do some testing
Hi Jack, very sad for the issue in Windows 10...but i have Windows 8.1 64bit.. Hope for the solution. Regards.
Yeah I'll give the manual install a go. It looks as if something with the ffmpeg.exe doesn't execute when record is pressed. I get the cmd prompt window when I press record, but it just sits there with ffmpeg cmd. While the media is playing and I press play, the media transfers to the mpv player after the cmd window opens and executes the mpv.exe Hope that make sense and venous in any way. Many thanks to you and the t3rmin8tor for your efforts. Thanks,Peanut

Sweet! I did a manual install and the record is working for me on my windows 10. For some reason I want to think the installer doesn't 1.) install all the .exe files in the bin folder 2.) setup the paths in the system settings and I'm not sure if it ran the pip install and upgrade, but that could've been behind the scenes and I didn't notice. Just wanted to let you and others know that if an idiot like me can do the manual install and have it work...there's hope for the rest of the world ;).
I didn't try out any of the other option's in the drop menu, but I'll give the "save url" and others a try later.
Do not worry about peanut9779, we're in 2 to be idiots .... Ahahahahah. Regards :)
hi peanut
glad you managed to get the manual install working
hope it wasnt too difficult
update fixed issues with windows 10 not syncing with pilfer and python however there is still the issue with the gui to fix so although the gui is present it does not yet work i will be uploading the partially fixed version within the next hour
what does work
1 saving urls 2 pilfer -i video-file.txt -t 00:00:00
Hi T3rmin8tor, sorry that pilfer does not work together with ripping in the menu with y in Code, I'm very relieved to rip records, and I wish they existed together in the drop-down menu in code.
hi everyone re wrote pilfer installer
https://github.com/t3rmin8tor/pilfer-installer/releases/download/1.4/pilfer-1.4-install-64bit.exe
will the pilfer-1.4-install-64bit.exe work on a windows 32 bit operating system?
hi steve
no 1.4 wont work on 32 bit machines had issue with 64 bit installer not working on 64 bit machines
so just going to 32 bit version
Hi NapoleonWilson,
Is there a 32 bit version for pilfer with tr3mn8tor?
hi steve
there is a 32 bit version but you need to open the cmd prompt after the install and run a cmd to install pilfer
download the 32 but version
then open cmd prompt and run the following cmd
pip3.6 install --user git+https://github.com/NapoleonWils0n/pilfer.git
Sorry but the command prompt said its not an internal or external command: pip3.6 install --user git+https://github.com/NapoleonWils0n/pilfer.git unless Im putting it in command prompt wrong
hi mate
it was only a test release so may be some issues with it
the rip-record still work? I probably go back to that. Thank you NapoleonWilson, I appreciate your help on this.
hi mate
no problem
im not sure if there was a problem on windows 10 with the latest build of rip-record
I went back to windows 7 cause windows 10 was using up alot of memory cause i only have 2 gigs. Windows 10 was making computer lag alot.
hi steve
just had email from the t3rmin8tor
new 32 bit version just released im going to try it now in windows vm ill let you know if it works for me
give me 15 mins to try
ok
cheers jack was just going to post the link for 1.4 32 bit but u got there first
keeping the fingers crossed. Lol
hi steve
just tested new installer everything worked except one minor issue to fix and should be good to go
just need to create a new playercorefactory.xml file and change the paths to python
hi all
updated playercorefactory.xml file for the installer to fix the path to python
i have tested the installer and everything works on windows 10
record from within kodi and on the command line works and using mpv as an external player also works
the installer may need to be recompiled to add the updated playercorefcatory.xml file so hopefully should be ready soon
Hi Napoleon, Tons of thanks mate :)
hi paolo
i have tested everything on a 64 bit fully updated version of windows 10 and everything works
i just had to change the paths to python in the playercorefactory.xml file the t3rmin8tor may need to recompile the installer which should take 30 mins or so
but just depends if he has to timetravel to the past and rescue john connor again first
Great engagement and great work guys. I for the record I have Win 8.1 64 bit with license ... Regards :)
hi paolo
i have been testing pilfer for the last couple of weeks and the only links it wont record are ones that use a local proxy
which ill look into
So good to go to download for a 32 bit system?
when get done recording, where would the video be located at? the desktop i am assuming?
hi all
you can download the 32 bit installer now but you will need to download a zip file with fixed playercorefactory.xml and manually install it
1- download and run the 32 bit installer
2 - click the pilfer desktop shortcut icon
this will open a cmd prompt and install the pilfer script
3 - download the 32bit.zip file with the fixec playercirefcatory.xml file
32bit.zip playercorefactort.xml
unzip the 32bit.zip file
ignore the pilfer folder inside the aip you dont need that its for manual install
4 - open the kodi userdata folder
Open the Windows Start menu and type
%APPDATA%\kodi\userdata This will open the Kodi userdata folder in the Windows file manager
remove the playercorefactory.xml file from the kodi userdata folder
Then copy the playercorefactory.xml from inside the 32bit.zip file into the kodi\userdata folder
5 - read the manual on how to recird on the command line
i only have a 64 bit machine to test on so if your running 32 bit let me know if you have any issues recording fro kodi
hopefully the t3rmin8tor will add the new playercorefactory.xml to the installer in the next release so you dont have to install it manually
hi steve
video is recoreded to desktop like rip-record
ok
Hi Jack ... I have Windows 8.1 64 bit, I can install 64 bit 64-bit pilfer, just Jack?

The 32 bit version Paolo and NapoleonWilson and tr3mn8tor works, You guys are awesome thank you so much again. For the channel to record would this channel link work: http://tvkings.vodiptv.org:83/live/SteveTurman/ste745621/67609.ts. Im assuming just paste in the box and hit record?
hi steve
good to hear its working for you
i havent tried the gui yet give it a go and let me know
could you post the version of windows you are using and if its 32 or 64 bit just helps to know which versions of windows its working on
I deleted rip record and installed the pilfer. The only thing it will do is allow me to play content with mpv now using the play button. I can't record or get the url so I'm not exactly sure how to use the pilfer. I don't know what channel to put in and I can't grab the url to try in the Pilfer-TS .m3u slot. I know this is still being tested so if you need me to try something or send you info, I can do that.
