There are different methods of collecting the specimens:
Thanks for the examples @Blerina01, we should incorporate them.
SESAR has a vocabulary for geo samples: http://www.geosamples.org/help/vocabularies#collection
Does anyone know of anything similar for biological samples? Collection Trust lists a few examples: https://collectionstrust.org.uk/resource/field-collection-method/
There was also a suggestion in the index sheet to use https://www.dublincore.org/specifications/dublin-core/collection-description/accrual-method/. I'd say that this is valid, but maybe not for this property, which is more about field collection (need to make the definition clearer in that respect). Collection accrual method might be appropriate as a seperate property, or part of the CollectionHistory class?
Agreed. That distinction is a good one.
If this term defines how an object was collected in the Field the link http://www.geosamples.org/help/vocabularies#collection appears to comprehensively fit main Earth Science field collection methods.
For the definition, the Collections Trust approach seems quite clear and simple: https://collectionstrust.org.uk/resource/field-collection-method/
and we could rename this property to fieldCollectionMethod

cheers

Hi all, If this is about how the specimen was obtained in the field, how is it really different from dwc:samplingProtocol? Could this be re-used? Not sure I see the difference comparing both definitions...
Updated the property name and mapping to adopt @pzermoglio's suggestion: no need to duplicate dwc:samplingProtocol
