Scrum report #6 #72

Open tendy-s opened 11 months ago

tendy-s commented 11 months ago

Each individual needs to post their scrum report as a comment on this issue:

A final wrap up scrum report to talk about what you did in the last two weeks, and what you would hypothetically work on if you were to continue on the project.

**Questions your comment should answer:

What did you work on this past iteration (2 weeks)? What were any major issues/challenges you ran into? What do you plan to work on for this coming iteration (2 weeks)?**

What did you work on this past iteration (2 weeks)?

This past iteration I worked on writing documentation, fixing UI bugs, making minor UX updates, cleaning up code, and preparing for our demo.

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into?

I didn't run into any major issues, as it was primarily time dedicated to wrapping up any features, writing and cleaning up. One challenge was ensuring the team was able to deliver a well-rounded presentation within the 7-minute time limit.

What do you plan to work on if you were to continue working on this project?

If I were to keep working on this project, I would aim to improve it by building out a user profile where users would have the opportunity to see their favourite parks and a history of all their reviews. I would also be interested in expanding OutDoorly so that we could include national parks from other countries, which would involve investigating other resources and redesigning workflows to accommodate more complex searches. Finally, it might be fun if we could incorporate the help of OpenAI and see if we could add a virtual agent to guide users in discovering suitable places to hike.

What did you work on this past iteration (2 weeks)?

In this past iteration I worked on code cleanup, fixing minor bugs here and there, and preparing for the presentation.

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into?

There were no major issues or challenges encountered during this iteration since it just involved wrapping up the final project and performing minor tweaks.

What do you plan to work on if you were to continue working on this project?

If we were to continue working on this project, I think the web application would benefit from implementing all the stretch requirements of our project such as creating a photo liking system, alerting users of emergency situations in the national parks, and expansion of our national parks search to other countries such as Canada.

What did you work on this past iteration (2 weeks)? In the last two weeks, I worked on completing the tasks in the documentation that were assigned to me (such as describing how we implemented MongoDB functionality, explaining how the Proximity search and distance algorithm was a cool feature of our project and description of next steps), I also participated with our group to practice and refine our project demo.

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into? There were no major issues or challenges encountered during this stage. We had to make sure our demo presentation was well delivered so we worked through some rehearsals to refine our scripts and timing issues and made sure our backend was 'spun-up' so it wouldn't lag during the presentation.

What do you plan to work on if you were to continue working on this project? I would really like to refine our UI to make it even more responsive since the UI has the biggest impact on people when we show our project to them. I would also like to rework the home page and add more buttons and nav bars and information so it is about more than implementing just two kinds of searches but has functionality that we would normally see on a fully faceted website. Once that is done, I would like to gradually add the backend functionality for it. I would also like to build out the user profiles more, add social media integration and allow users to sign up for text and email alerts for important/emergency events at the park.

What did you work on this past iteration (2 weeks)?

I worke on the documentation and cleaned up a lot of the codebase. I removed uncommented code, and made some minor changes. I also practiced with my group to get a feel for our project presentation, and to prepare the structure and order.

What were any major issues/challenges you ran into? No major challenges, other than practicing with the group several times to stay within the 7 minute time limit

What do you plan to work on if you were to continue working on this project? I would like to further increase the features and usability of the project, such as better user integration, more interactive search and filtering options, and polish up the responsiveness
