Okay -- let's talk later today re: requests for draft summaries vs. interviews; deadline; and e-mail addresses and phone numbers for the names. Thanks
Data on Company Registries (OCR) summary ready for review.
Fixed link so that it accesses English, not Nepalese, version. Long .pdf document notes that the success of this project created demand for similar projects in other Nepalese departments, but no other information about the service in a broader context, i.e., how it would apply/be provided to other governments. Will follow up with POC when he returns in October.
Interviewed Robert Iunes and posted a rough draft of the Open Data in Health summary for your review.
Interviewed Prasanna Lal Das and posted draft of World Bank Group Finances summary for your review. Note that the group does not work directly with clients, so clients should not contact them directly; Prasanna will get back to me as to a contact person or link.
Sent drafts to Prasanna and Robert for their review/approval; Yuri copied.
E-mailed Taneem Ahad re: gathering more information for the Data on Company Registries summary, which currently focuses only on the Nepalese program; Yuri copied.
Please clarify: Are the Community of Practice on Fiscal Transparency and Accountability and BOOST related? Only BOOST appeared on the original menu of offerings, and it appears that the Community is a team, but I'm not sure how it's related to BOOST.
Are the Community of Practice on Fiscal Transparency and Accountability and BOOST related?
No, they're not related.
However, from the description of the CoP on Fiscal Transparency, etc, I'm not sure if this belongs in the Toolkit. Doesn't look like it has much exposure outside the Bank. I would start by asking them that question. Or perhaps @YuriWBG can clarify?
Thanks -- I e-mailed Yuri
The SME, Juan, for the GAFSP map project says that his service offering was a customized solution for one client, but will get back to us as to whether it could have applications re: prospective clients.
The Community of Practice on Fiscal Transparency and Accountability is a forum for idea exchange. It sponsors and promotes events related to fiscal transparency, many available to non-Bank staff; will develop e-learning on open budgeting; and provides a portal for discussion about fiscal transparency issues. Because it appears to be a support group and a resource for ideas but not what I'd consider a service offering, I'm suggesting we do not include it in this section. Thoughts?
What is the address for the discussion portal? Or anything that an external audience might be able to access -- a past event, for instance? If it's something that's only accessible within the Bank's intranet, then I'd say it doesn't meet our criteria at present.
The portal will be open to external members in a few weeks; it will be accessible to anyone who signs up and is accepted by site administrator. She didn't provide the address but I'll get it if needed. Most events can currently be attended or viewed by non-Bank staff via VC/webcast or viewed via recording afterward.
Contacted Saki Kumagai 10/24 re: summary he provided for Social Accountability & Good Governance; need additional information as to what his program does and technical services offered. Copied Yuri.
Added/edited Saki's new summary. Two questions: The "mailto:" link he provided at the end does not seem to work. Also, do you want to include any additional information regarding the two groups he mentions here, or just add Leanne's e-mail as another contact at the end?:
Also, as we informed Yuri when we first replied back with the blurb, WB practitioners working on this agenda/program are now split into 2 Global Practices-Governance GP and GP 13 (Social, Urban, Rural, and Resilience). I now am with the Governance GP and I do not believe there is anyone from the GP13 represented at the Working Group as of today. To keep our colleagues working on open data in GP 13 (on same issue, social accountability and citizen engagement) informed and engaged, it perhaps is recommended to approach them. Leanne Bayer is the Global Social unit's focal point on social accountability.
Let's omit the 2nd paragraph.
The email link is in the correct format. How and whether it works depends on how the browser and email clients are configured on your computer. If your email software is not configured to handle "mailto:" links, then it won't work.
BTW, Saki is a "she".
@lindaklinger - I made some small changes to answer some of the hanging issues. For all the programs in the "menu of services," I wonder if we should get back in touch with the contact points and ask them to submit a summary paragraph of no more than say 300 words describing their program in web-friendly language (which presumably we can clean up), and importantly, a URL or an email address with more information and contact info. We can offer opengovdata@worldbank.org as a default. I have a junior consultant in mind that might be able to work on this for us.
Every major TA program listed here should have a contact point for more information.
