Essentials: Technical Assistance #9

WB does not currently have a good online description of its TA offerings. There is a short paper brochure that could be converted. There is also a longer but incomplete menu of services. We need to develop this content. My sense is that it's best done as its own ancillary page. It's easy enough to write a standalone page, but I have to think about how it fits into the menu navigation.

I have a standalone draft incorporating information from the brochure and menu, with a few questions. Should I post it somewhere, or e-mail it to you for review?

Can you add it as a new wiki page?

I added descriptions for the World Bank in both sections, based on what we've done so far with the "World Bank Technical Assistance" page.

The style on this page still seems very strange to me, specifically the pointed use of incomplete sentences. Perhaps we can discuss this on Monday, I'm not sure if this is a common practice or specific style, but I found it distracting to read. Also, the section should hyperlink to publicly available resources whenever possible, such as the Open Data Handbook and CKAN.

Okay -- if you get a chance, please clarify where the numbers are coming from that you're using, e.g., #9 -- neither "How the World Bank" nor "Tech Assistance" is #9 on the wiki list. I'm assuming this one, for example, is not the standalone page specific to the World Bank, correct? On Sep 19, 2014, at 5:17 PM, Tim Herzog wrote:

The #9 in the title is the Github ticket number and matches the number in the URL. Github shows it automatically

Okay. Edited your World Bank descriptions. I can create complete sentences if you'd prefer; because it's a list of organizations, and the text that follows each entry answers the question "what does this organization do?", I'm comfortable with the style, but yes, let's discuss.

Edited descriptions to comply with style suggestions and added hyperlinks, as discussed.

I've reviewed this and most of it looks good. For Ford Foundation, I replaced the 2 example grants with two others that are more relevant to open data - Web Foundation and GPSA (which is a Bank partnership).

Please take another look at the summary for Hewlett Foundation, and try to focus on the grant work that HF does that's relevant to Open Data, as opposed to how the Foundation is open about its own grant-making process (which is nice, but not the focus of this section). The most relevant program is HF's work on transparency, accountability and participation and in particular its funding for the Open Government Partnership.

Edited the Hewlett Foundation summary.
