genmask should be able to save mask object and export at the same time #36

following #35 it would also be nice to be able to save the mask object as well as export to another format. alternatively the exporting can be a separate script like geomconv --> maskconv

right now this is all done in genmask. Should we have a separate maskconv? I think so.
