Some improvements could help making the translations better usable, for example the inclusion of the original notes of the translator.

There is already a place for notes in the translation, which by design should go into the "Comments" file associated with a translation.
However, it is tedious to setup this file and keep it open in another panel. So I am proposing to handle this semi-automatically as follows:
a (foot)note in the translation is typed into the same panel as the translation, but set off with '@fn' at the beginning and '@@' at the end. (the latter might be skipped, if it is the end of the text in this line)
When saving this line, the system could extract the note and put it in the Comments file (create one, if necessary), maybe just leave an indicator there, as to where the note was attached.
The display could then handle this flexibly, maybe show the note on mouse-over, or whatever
