An attempt to introduce an MDOS-specific archivation format has been made by the authors of the MDOS File Commander (MFC), who assigned it the extension *.D_0 (see its specification at Page 65). This format never found its way to the mainstream, however, some programs still exist only in this archivation form and a cumbersome roundtrip using an MS-DOS floppy must be undertaken to import them through MFC to a MDOS floppy.
It thus would be desirable to facilitate an import of this archivation format directly to an image or floppy disk. In contrast, an export to this format is not necessary.
