App menu is not useful #35

Hi,

It's a longstanding issue that I already reported. IIRC Heather did look at this but with no success. LO app menu is not working at all, any click opens global LO launch page.

So if no solution to this is found, could we simply remove the app menu entries? App menu is working with Ubuntu's deb.

What app menu? Are you referring to the GNOME Shell feature that was removed years ago in v3.32? https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119996

This app menu is still used by Firefox, Thunderbird or Chromium, at least. So, maybe this is deprecated but still effective.

If LO snap offers such an app menu (Writer, Calc...) well it has to work. If not, it has to be removed.

And afaicr it works with deb version.

You must be talking about some other menu then. Please attach a screenshot.

That's just the Gnome shell dash app menu we get with right-clicking on LO icon.

Is this talking about the Libreoffice generic application? I can open LO Writer, Calc etc with no issues, but if I open Libreoffice, I get an unusual styling, which doesn't seem to follow global magnification: image

It doesn't pull in recent documents and I cannot open Writer, Calc etc from there. I'm using a beta of Ubuntu 24.04, but that shouldn't affect the application's actions if I'm using a snap?
