I've examined the files and it's not cyberworks/dat; I'll work on this ~~once I get back home~~ this Saturday.

Well, the extraction was complete, but was the char sprite meant to have black background? Because that's how it came out on the extraction.

Actually no... the game somehow knows how to apply alpha, though the files don't seem to contain it?... investigating
