Beer for the wedding

@rimboy is already on the job on this. Also one or two kegs will be ordered from Craft Brewed when I return home (I fly out from Amsterdam in a few hours).

Only catch with Craft Brewed is having the setups necessary. We don't have the tubs. Also, if you're thinking about Left Hand Milk Stout you need to get on this quick. It sounds like they shut down production due to the flooding. As a result it may be difficult to obtain Left Hand products (and well, they're distributed by Lipman who knows Jack butters their bread and beer is something fun for them to distribute).

Frugal Mac should have the taps you need, not sure about tubs but that shouldnt be too hard to come by

Fwiw I've got two taps from past hoedown parties, via @brandonvalentine. Tubs need to be tracked down. Looking for a volunteer for that (comment here!).

The bigger question is, in addition to the beers from the rimby how many kegs do we need? In years past I've gotten two kegs (aka half barrels), but this year we aren't having a conference, so I'm leaning towards one, unless we believe we will still have a full-on crowd. The other question was which particular beers -- we had had left hand in a last year but it wasn't clear yet that it would be the choice this year. Just getting back to email really after a few weeks. I don't think there's a beer crisis, fwiw, but there are a couple open questions we need to resolve (attendance,

kegs, which beer(s)).

I think that we should assume that we have 100+ people drinking, between the wedding and the party.

However, we are going to have a proper liquor bar (at least during the wedding, but probably extending beyond that) so people may be drinking more liquor and less beer.

Does that clarify anything for you?

Kind of leaning then towards @rimboy beers, plus one half-barrel of maybe the left hand milk stout, or something else (no major preference as long as it's good), and then saying "keep the liquor bar open for a bit longer". I'm trying to shake loose whether there will be 2, 1 or 0 bands playing later that night. The more bands the more booze, I suppose.

We're currently working on music for the ceremony. @shaynarang has connected us with a gypsy jazz band that could do good stuff during the ceremony. Maybe he can help on later musical arrangements?

My basic plan on the bar is to have @henryburton do proper bar tending until, say, 7 or 7:30 and then we'll stash a certain amount of the excess booze and all of the glassware and turn the bar into a help-yourself booze-o-rama.

Arranged yesterday with @rimboy to bring in a half-barrel, preferably of Left Hand Milk Stout. They will call on Monday to ensure they can get it; if not, we'll fall back to something respectable. Fwiw, he is making 5 10-gallon batches. Last year we had 3 10-gallon batches and 2 half-barrel kegs (2x15.5 gallons), for a total of 61 gallons of beer. This year we'll have 65.5 gallons of beer, with more of it @rimboy beer than non, as well as whatever you guys are doing for liquor during the wedding.

With the bands and wedding, but loss of the conference, we may well be at the same or larger attendance, so, that's cool.

I have to at least get out a "here's the date, here's the deets" invite today. I haven't had the time (travel + work + in-laws, and today: baby shower) to get out the Real Invite, so it might just be a follow-on to the details announcement, which will go out on facebook.

We have two 1/6 bbls in the cooler as they were the only ones available. I talked to the Lipman rep the other night and she seemed to think there would be a new LH shipment arriving this week. I told we'd like to trade the two 1/6bbls for a 1/2bbl. I'll follow up with her tomorrow to make sure that happens.

Bottom line, we have beer, just not one contiguous keg at the moment.
