Hi all. I am interested in connecting lingua libre to wiktionary for all languages.

  1. Storage : Is it fine to proceed in this way. I.e all the recorded words will go-to commons and wiktionary. ?
  2. Goals : What was the previous plans or goals for the software ?
  3. Storage : What was your plan on storing the audio files ? Does the wiktionary plan disturbs the existing plan ?
  4. Code changes : There will be few changes on php code to go along with wiktionary plan. I will list them if the plan is fine.

Share your thoughts on the previous plans. -- Shrinivasan

Hello @TShrinivasan !

From my experiences and talks with the French devs :

  1. Storage : we advice to do the recording online on lingualibre.fr (not on local instance), then a pipeline toward commons. We have in mind some potential post-recordings data processing for metadata, filenames or audios data themselves (#29, fades). Also, we would prefer to have lingualibre.fr to be the unique origin, on which audios could be batch-corrected if needed, and from which we keep satellites such commons up to date. As for Wiktionary : for sure ! We wish for and dream of (!) your pipeline to be integrated as soon as possible, so commons and wiktionary benefit quickly from LinguaLibre's audios.
  2. Goals : check the issues tagged as important. There, the issues #2 (download collection), #13 (UI in English), #33 (pipeline), and #31 (OATH login) are the top priorities so we can sign collaborations with universities (#2), provide the tool to languages-lovers around the world (#13) and share LinguaLibre at the Wikimania (#33, #31).
  3. Code changes : a listing would be lovely, but as long as it works when testing on your PC please go ahead : )

Nicolas is overloaded due to his day job plus volunteer involvement into the French legislative election, 2017, where he is a local candidate.

@All: Please also note that I now store meetings' records, documentations, goals on our wiki. So when something good is written on an issue, don't let it be lost ! Copy-paste and Hop !
