We might need to store which article is clicked the most or which categories are clicked more.
Yes. Can we do it? If so, how complex is it?
Are the data not yet available from Wikipedia?

Yes we can implement this and this is not that complex.
We can store category click data, we don't get that from Wikipedia.
Also another way we can show most popular is categories which have more articles.
@dev-ckln most popular is not "the most articles" but rather the most researched, edited, clicked etc. We will discuss this and get back to you thanks
@ChristineDomgoergen we need to discuss this since data are apparently not yet available= we need time to collect those.
@darionewmonday okay, what are the possiblities here? Do I understand correctly that the question is: Which articles do we show in the most popular category until we have collected enough data in the tool itself?
@ChristineDomgoergen not exactly. We want to offer the most popular Topics (Movies is a category, Motorsportfilm is a Topic, Fast & Furious is an article)
Problem is: we don't have this data now. Solution can be: instead of most popular, for the first 3 months we offer "Random topics" (like it is now), we can collect the data and then swap. @dev-ckln correct?
@darionewmonday okay, you mean Motorsportfilm is a subcategory, right? Because there are no "topics" in the system.
About the solution: if we keep it random we would need to exclude certain categories (see briefing) like "gestorben am" or certain maintenance categories. We could give you a list.
Other idea: check which articles are most interesting to readers https://tools.wmflabs.org/topviews/?project=de.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&date=last-month&excludes= and from here deduct the 10 most interesting categories.
@ChristineDomgoergen to exclude certain categories is not a problem. It's in the brief and already done for the categories without any article to show. Can you please add your blacklist on issue #14 pls?
thanks
@darionewmonday okay, will do by next week
@darionewmonday If I am Correct , We need to save the data for popular topics (most opened , clicked) for first 3 months and for now show random categories excluding the blacklist right?
@ChristineDomgoergen @tobijat can you please help here?
Do you want to give us 10 categories from https://tools.wmflabs.org/topviews/?project=de.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&date=last-month&excludes=
or do we follow what @dev-ckln is suggesting?
thanks
@darionewmonday this is a PM question I need to delegate to @ChristineDomgoergen
@darionewmonday: As discussed in task 27 that you will give us 10 handpicked popular topics to be displayed and we will show articles related to them. Kindly let me know by when I can expect them?
Next week.
Can you set up the tool with some other placeholder topics?

@darionewmonday Yes, we can.
Most popular topics are hard coded now.
@dev-ckln Hi Deepak, we got some user feedback on this: can you replace the placeholder topics with all from the interest category "Gesellschaft" instead? Thank you!
@ChristineDomgoergen @darionewmonday It is done. Please check
@dev-ckln Great, thank you!
How can we define the "most popular" topics in the tool?
