Problem with QLogic QLE2460 in XCP-NG >= 8.2 #606

Hello!

We have a problem with upgrade xcp-ng 8.0 to 8.2.1 or 8.2. At environment exists servers IBM 3650 M3 with QLogic QLE2460 connected by FC to storage array. Problem probably is with driver to this cards. During booting xcp-ng >= 8.0 cdrom with multipath, wizard doesn't see disks and prints: "No XCP-NG compatible drivers were found..." / "This host does not appear to have any disks". Neither loading driver from cdrom nor http doesn't finds it, but when i'm booting wizard by edit grub alt-kernel option and manually writing device_mapper_multipath=enabled to kernel parameters - it works and disks are visable, then everything works. In XCP-NG <= 8.0 is everything ok.

Where is problem and how to fix it.

I attach movies and pics from this experiment: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AslXvXaEb10yhsEr4tUMxQGh4j0T9Q?e=oOHRrF

Hi,

Where is problem and how to fix it.

This bug tracker is for repeatable and identified bugs on hardware that can be supported. IBM 3650 M3 are very old machines, so I'm not surprised you have issues with it.

You can ask on https://xcp-ng.org/forum

OK. So what do you mean, can i use alt-kernel at production :)?

  1. For production, I won't recommend to use those very old machines
  2. For production, I would recommend to have pro support to be assisted in those issues and have the best advice
  3. In any other case, go on the forum to ask :) This is not the right place here
