Unknown source error Response code: 403 #3606

Open forestation opened 2 weeks ago

forestation commented 2 weeks ago

Since this morning I have not been able to play any videos in SmartTube. Instead I get an "Unknown source error Response code: 403" every time I click on a video on the Home screen.

The Home screen looks normal otherwise.

I'm on a Sony TV.

ETA: I've tried restarting TV as well as signing out of SmartTube then back in again, did not help. Problem also persisted after I updated to version 22.35.

Update: Problem seems to have been resolved for at least a couple of us.

Getting the same thing on FireTV stick, no videos are working.

forestation commented 2 weeks ago

Update: I did two things:

  1. Re-enable the YouTube app (I had disabled it a long time ago)

  2. Exit the SmartTube app (via the Back button on my remote) then reopen it

Now the videos are playing normally, even after I disabled YouTube again. I don't know which of the above two steps made the difference.

puppet-head commented 2 weeks ago

Yep mine was fine until 5 minutes ago, now every video gives this error, apart from livestreams. (Fire tv 4k)

Muffin1611 commented 2 weeks ago

I just left a video open for half an hour until it started by itself and now they all work again.

bobnecat commented 2 weeks ago

Can confirm. Unknown source error 403 on firestick 4k as of today.

Rin-Rem commented 2 weeks ago

Getting the same thing. Seems youtube might of killed the app for now.

teK04 commented 2 weeks ago

Same since 1h or so. Streams working fine.

SilentSkies commented 2 weeks ago

Having the same issue on latest stable. Rolled back to the previous stable version 21.91 and still seeing issues with this. On FireTV 4k.

SilentSkies commented 2 weeks ago

Any livestreams selected still work perfectly.

olivermonberg commented 2 weeks ago

Same issue on Android TV.

Mohmotte commented 2 weeks ago

Go to Beta Version for the moment. Beta Version has no problem.

olivermonberg commented 2 weeks ago

Having the same issue on Beta version.

Jeremyp93 commented 2 weeks ago

How do we go to beta version?

Mohmotte commented 2 weeks ago

It's in the description of the github. Sorry for my English cause I'm French.

Mohmotte commented 2 weeks ago

It's the same I have... Waiting a reply of developper... Can it be a Youtube restriction ?

SilentSkies commented 2 weeks ago

I'm getting the same problem on the latest beta too.

WORKAROUND

Close it. Clear the app cache and data. Open it. DO NOT RESTORE A BACKUP. Sign in again. Worked for me on stable and beta.

This is the answer, it worked on my Nvidia shield pro and stable 22.19. Thanks.

Yup, this worked for me on my Nvidea shield!

inMikeRotch commented 2 weeks ago

Warning. When you clear your data, you will also reset all of your preferences. It will also remove any of your sidebar channels that were created. It will be like running SmartTube for the "first time". However, this does fix the "error 403" until an update is released.

smartfiretv commented 2 weeks ago

Clearing data and cache did not work for me. I simply uninstalled v22.35 and installed v22.19. It now works. I also tried v22.20 beta but that didn't work. This is on a Firestick 4K.

Probably not, Newpipe still works. I feel like it wouldn't work if it was the case

elle8che commented 2 weeks ago

I believe version 22.19 is what I had until I checked for an updated version, which then took me to the most recent version. I can say that on my Fire Stick, both versions threw the 403 error. Maybe that means simply uninstalling and reinstalling would work?

I also wonder if those on the later version of SYT could backup your settings to the cloud -- the new setting to save to Google Drive -- and restore those settings after the next SYT update.

Either way, I'm not risking the effort I've put into my very specific setup, so I'll happily await the next update. By the way, YT is also throwing up ad blocker blocks in the web version of regular YT.

fawzib commented 2 weeks ago

reboot your system. sounds silly but it worked to me since other players were also failing.

DPAmes commented 2 weeks ago

Same here on my main Google TV device, but my other Android devices running SmartTube were not affected. Stopping/updating/rebooting/clearing cache/logging out-in did not work, but clearing all data and settings fixed it.

adamcroxton commented 2 weeks ago

Only fix for me was to completely wipe the cache and data in android settings. Sony TV btw. An issue I did run into was singing in afterwords. Only place I could manage to sign in was in accounts in settings. All other locations in app that would take to the sign in would not function properly. It would link but account would be missing in app.
But managed to get it to work inside the settings accounts.

So yes. For anyone with this issue.. as much of a pain as it might be wipe the data and sign back in

NUBiness commented 2 weeks ago

----Update to comment below--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It just auto updated, he must be working to fix the issues and took down new downloads until he could resolve it.

After update the 403 issue returned cleared cache and cleared data, signed back in via settings>accounts and issue resolved.

Resolved the issue sort of by reinstalling from old apk after finding out the apk download pages are no longer functioning for download via downloader or my pc. As well the update function no longer works in the app and it's not showing my history on the history section it displays a sign in dialog there and signing in again does not resolve it at all. Now experiencing sever buffering issues with the current video I am trying to play now. I think something severe has happened to smarttube.

elle8che commented 2 weeks ago

Resolved with the latest (very recent) update with no need for an hoop jumping. Save your settings and just update.

plincode commented 2 weeks ago

Sadly I just updated to the new update and the problem has started appearing for me. Reboot, clear data and cache did not work.

Rin-Rem commented 2 weeks ago

Clear data and cache worked for me after the possible 403 fix update. I have a feeling this is gonna be norm for awhile till it's figured out what the cause is.

Did not resolved it for me. :(

Fixed it for me, thanks!

mdic commented 2 weeks ago

Updated to latest (22.37) on my Android TV after receiving error 403 on 22.19, however the error did not disappear. Backed up settings, cleaned both cache and data, restored the settings and now 22.37 is worling properly.

inMikeRotch commented 2 weeks ago

I applied the update without any issue. Earlier in the day, I had originally reset my settings to Fresh before applying this patch when the patch wasn't available. That step probably isn't necessary at this point. Device: Amazon Fire Stick (2020) running Android 9.

SeeJayDee commented 2 weeks ago

I had the error, installed the update, still getting the error. Exited using back button. Installed previously uninstalled YouTube app. Reopened Smart Tube. Fixed.

(On Fire TV 4k, 2022 model)

renevdvorst commented 2 weeks ago

Just to add some info, I couldn't get it fixed with reinstalling, but enabling and updating the original YouTube app fixed it for me. Been running ok for about 24 hours now. Still on 22.19.

ACR-Jeff commented 2 weeks ago

Had this issue yesterday, Clearing cache and data, Re-login solved the problem, Now today the issue is back. Updated to see if that would solve it didn't, I don't want to have to do this daily.

0o120 commented 2 weeks ago

Was working fine, then I updated to the newest version with the 403 fix and now I'm getting the 403 error.

bobnecat commented 2 weeks ago

The issue has gotten worse, now neither clearing cache, nor installing update with subsequent cache clearing works.

Looks like YouTube is waging war on this app.

KG3RK3N commented 2 weeks ago

Same issue, nothing works

It's not just this app, It's all 3rd party that I have tried.
