Ts: a packless wolf may team up with a wolf who was lynched when they couldn't previously as they didn't know each other, reporter info can reveal mislynches
Ts: yea they can gain info from the living players
Captain Luffy: so i mean, if its a daily lynch then yknow
Ts: I suppose that way all correct lynches will be confirmed, though I'm not sure how much of a town majority there would be
Ts: but it does seem like an issue
Captain Luffy: yeah if there isnt a town majority then town gets lynched every day
Ts: oh wait all dead players are confirmed
Captain Luffy: the lynch system needs to be different than the living one
Captain Luffy: or just non existent
Ts: yea
Ts: it could be tied to whispering
Ts: I think in general Reporter is a big problem for this mode so maybe it needs to be nerfed
Ts: e.g. you only see the roles of people that die while you're Reporter
Captain Luffy: for the dead elected role. maybe it can be to roleblock dead people, once a night
Captain Luffy: because like, what else could possibly be useful really
Captain Luffy: or unless reporter is moved to dead elected role
Ts: I think that might be too much
Captain Luffy:
e.g. you only see the roles of people that die while you're Reporter
maybe could be choosing a target once per night to learn reporter info
Ts: oh yea that's probably better
Ts: I was just thinking that my suggestion can make Reporter do absolutely nothing if killed in the same night
Captain Luffy: and maybe can only choose ghosts, not dead people
Captain Luffy: or should it be the other way around
Ts: oh so if somebody is ghost lynched it will no longer be possible to figure out their original role?
Captain Luffy: yeah
Captain Luffy: other option is the other way around, can only learn role if they are ghost lynched/killed
Captain Luffy: that could be useful in that, wolves might not want some unconfirmed ghost people to die who are actually town
Ts: I think requiring them to be a Ghost would probably be more interesting
Ts: hm
Ts:
that could be useful in that, wolves might not want some unconfirmed ghost people to die who are actually town
actually this only works if we allow instant ghost lynches
Ts: which is probably a bad idea
Captain Luffy: the goal there would be to prevent wolves from revealing themselves by teaming up in a ghost vote
Ts:
which is probably a bad idea
(Otherwise there won't be anyone to check)
Captain Luffy: true
Captain Luffy: this new reporter probably fixes the issue with the ghost lynch system
Captain Luffy: makes wolves still wanna act like town
Captain Luffy: will u come up with modifiers to give people ghost abilities
Captain Luffy: also if its a new reporter, probably just want to come up with a new name
Ts: Ghost Mode
Base Mechanics: • Dead players do not become full spectators, instead their channels become locked (except for their INDSC) and they gain access to #graveyard a channel shared with all the other dead players (they become ghosts) • Dead players can still read messages in public channels, their scs and ccs, but cannot write there anymore • Dead players may still create ccs - but only with other dead players • Dead players can not use their abilities anymore • Dead players can whisper one message to the living players during the night. Possibly this message should be de-personalized to make it so it's not trivial to figure out who it's from.
Additional Mechanics: • When there are >5 Ghosts, each day there will be a Banishment ("ghost lynch"), permanently eliminating a ghost • There will also be "ghost elections", electing: ‣ ?? (Ghost Mayor?) ‣ ?? ‣ Role that can "haunt" (role block) a living player • Reporter is replaced by a new elected role, Gravekeeper: This role may once per night investigate the original role of a ghost • "Ghostly" modifier. Players with this modifiers can only use their role abilities after dying. • Modifier #2: Players with this modifier can use their ability while dead and alive
Additional Roles: • Spiritualist - Moving the role to this mode would make a lot of sense • Ghost Killer Wolf - A wolf that can kill other ghosts if its a ghost
Ideas:
(2)
Captain Luffy: we should probably call the new ccs something else
Captain Luffy: like gccs or something idk
!Phantomtomic: that sounds interesting
!Phantomtomic: but if the base mechanic is that everyone dead will become a ghost what's the point of moving spiritualist just in this mode
Captain Luffy: because it fits these mechanics better
Ts: it fits much better and it gives Spiritualist a way to gain info after dying
Ts: which they can give to living players via whispers
!Phantomtomic: Wouldn't spiritualist have little difference for both gamemodes? After all I don't think this gamemode would affect spiritualist so much to prevent it from being in regular games
Ts: It would work in both, but we figured out its a bit ineffective
Captain Luffy: its just not useful in regular games
Ts: There's nothing terribly wrong with it I think and it can still be useful in regular games, but idk if it's really useful enough to warrant adding it
Ts: Opinions on idea (1)? Should the ability for ghosts to whisper even be tied to a living role or should it just be a general mechanic
Ts: One huge weakness of the classic werewolves/mafia type games is perma death, making it so that some players will not get to play for a significant amount of the game. Any suggestions to resolve/alleviate this are welcome in this thread, but I want to bring up one that was actually done in this game in the (distant) past: Way back in S1-S2 it was possible for the dead players to "haunt" tavern during the night, making is to some whispers would reach that channel. IIRC this was done by generating a randomize list of words and having the dead players vote on this. This was horrible in every way. Is there anything we could do to bring back haunting in some way? I'm absolutely not sure how it could be executed in a better way or if that is even possible, but if there was an idea it could possibly be tied to an otherwise powerless TM role. Anyone have any opinions/suggestions or completely different ideas for involving dead players more?
