mctsts: its much more fun to at least consider the possibility of being useful
venomousbirds: i like thinking of it as something so useless people forget it exists
mctsts: and then those games where those weak roles like assistant or herald actually do something are great
venomousbirds: so in some random partial game it'll be the key to town winning
mctsts: i mean just put 3 clerics in instead oc 3 citizens
mctsts: whats the worst that can happen
mctsts: probably nothing
mctsts: a decent chance of a protection that didnt matter because somebody else got attacked
mctsts:
so in some random partial game it'll be the key to town winning
but then, this!
mctsts: Time to vote on it <:gibagul:841358597983961128>
mctsts: I'm sorry for luffy who suggested a perfectly reasonable variant of the role
mctsts: <@&1045732542399131769>
Cleric: After Night 1, it can once per game, at night protect a single player (end-night). But only if there are no elected roles. If an elected role resigns in the same phase the protection is applied, they do not count as "existing".
Reasons for adding: It would be funny 😄 😄
✅ yes ⛔ No 🤷 Abstain
venomousbirds: funny!!!
mctsts: sorry luffy
shapechange: ftr i dont hate the role and wont care if it's added
shapechange: so don't take my no vote as a Deep Horror At The Idea
alphaviki: Honestly the role sounds funny. I can see some unique strategies as well. For example it could be a reason for wolves to keep a less important elected role alive to prevent a cleric protect on an important target. Although it is a bit niche. + The easy claiming makes it fairly balanced between town and wolves I think.
mctsts: Didnt even consider that aspect, but I think that actually makes it better
mctsts: There's definitely cases where a reporter doesn't really matter anymore
mctsts: It's also very niche, but at least it's another thing it does
mctsts: It's approved!
mctsts: Cleric | Townsfolk Power Basics When all hope seems lost, with no elected roles remaining, the clerics can once bless a player, protecting them for the night. Details After Night 1, the Cleric may once per game bless a player at night. However, the Cleric may only use their powers if no elected roles exist. Blessing a player is an immediate ability. When the Cleric blesses a player, they cannot die in any way throughout the rest of the night. Blessing a player is an immediate action. The Cleric may bless themself. If a blessed player evades an attack, the attacker is told it was due to their target being blessed.
Simplified Once per game, at night, the Cleric may bless a player to protect them from any death for the remainder of the night. If a blessed player evades an attack, the attacker is told it was due to their target being blessed.
Formalized
Immediate Night: [Quantity: 1, Condition: not ((@(Role:Mayor) exists) or (@(Role:Reporter) exists) or (@(Role:Guardian) exists))]
• Protect @Selection from All
(~Phase)
• Target @Selection (~Phase)
On @Target Visited [Attack]: Reveal @Target survived because they were blessed
to @Attacker

I've done the following changes:
• The ability is now immediate. While this makes resigning during night to make the protection possible impossible its the only way to have the role behaivor be consistent and sensible • The protection reveals its protection type (this was in the original draft, but not agreed on) • The protection protects from ALL death. I think this could make the role marginally more useful and actually makes resigning as guarding a valid play as the Cleric protection would be stronger, also it actually creates some synergies as its a unique power. I dont think it would be in any way overpowered as Cleric is already very situational and weak
<@&1045732542399131769> opinions? are any of those points controversial?

Does point 2 reveal it to the cleric or the protected player or both?
mctsts: to the attacker
e_thsn: Ohh
e_thsn: I thought you meant it worked like blessed wolf
mctsts:
If a blessed player evades an attack, the attacker is told it was due to their target being blessed.
mctsts: Runner like
e_thsn: Yeah
captainluffy: With that limitation we can probably remove the quantity 1 part
captainluffy: Don't know if both at once are good
mctsts: I think then it could get too powerful, potentially
captainluffy: Or quantity 2/3?
captainluffy: Witch already protects 4 people right
e_thsn: we could do once per 10 players
mctsts: Yes, but Witch is also a single night
e_thsn:
Witch already protects 4 people right
4 in one night
mctsts: thats a key difference
mctsts: 4 protections a night have pretty much the same maximum impact as a single protection
mctsts: its just a higher chance of relevance
e_thsn: what if it had a guardian effect 2 protections on the night if x condition is met
mctsts: but witch is supposed to be an early game protector
mctsts: with lots of options and difficult predictions, possibly
mctsts: cleric is intended as a weak late game protector
mctsts: less options, easier to predict
captainluffy: Maybe quantity 2 then?
captainluffy: 1 seems too little
mctsts: I dont think so
captainluffy: Since the restrictions are so high
captainluffy: Once per game during the night, the cleric may protect one player.
Thought it might be good to have another non conformable tp role
