Iota transition not successful - Balance at 0 despite >1000 addresses checked

Hi, I have just logged in to my account after several weeks and wanted to do the transition from my old seed to the new one. When using version 2.4.0, I fulled the transition guide precisely but despite >1000 addresses check, I could not recover my balance but only saw 0.

I also tried version 2.5.1 one - the lastest release - and can log in with my old seed but balance remains at zero despite re-attaching the tangle / generating new addresses. Any advice?

P.s.: I might have been in affected by the key re-use issue. Any chance to check that?

Have you tried adjusting the weights and make it higher minimum like 25?

No, does it need to be 25? The transition guide says it needs to be 15 using version 2.4.0 of the wallet. Would this need to be different?

So what is the solution here? I had a substantial amounts of funds on this account but it is all gone now and there is no support from the foundation available. This is not exactly a good sign of trust, I have to say...

Actually if there is no solution to get the IOTAS back then it is no investment oppotunity anymore...it can not be that I have to update every month smth to have my IOTAS. I want to keep it and look one time a year on them....

I just emailed them last night. Maybe they'd answer faster if I wrote in German, which I'm decent at. I will follow up and I think I may even try to DM some of the founders/administrators.

I believe Bitfinex will be offering cold storage on their exchange soon. If you store on an exchange you won't need to perform updates since the exchange updates automatically for you.

Also, the constant updates are a consequence of being involved with an emergent technology in its infancy and each update is progress and means greater returns. Your Iota will be recovered and I will continue to press for a response to issue.

1.) IOTAs core manually transferred mulit million in FIAT to a "foundation" for thousands of IOTA owners without asking 2.) IOTAs are not accessable to sell or share at all; not even balance is visable 3.) no response / intrest from IOTA core team which is not giving much credability to IOTA too

Bernardo, one more thing, did you ever receive a new wallet address when you received your new seed? Even if it's empty? Because I'd like to try to send an iota to that wallet or look at its node activity. Though I know whenever I looked up my new wallet address after the migration that the node explorer showed my address had received zero transactions and was empty even though I had plenty of Iota in there. So, my point is that the node explorer I used doesn't count the migration as a transaction or detect the wallet's actual balance. I find this fascinating. I wonder if the migration was even recorded on the tangle....

We have to push, it is not acceptable to stay in this situation without getting control of our IOTAs. Too many people transitioned successfully and the Iota foundation is composed of several pubic and trustworthy developers and strategic leaders. The Foundation is also non-profit, has a lot going for it in terms of partnerships and investments; I would be shocked to learn of shadiness.

I sincerely believe this will be resolved before long, but all who are grumbling about lack of communication, transparency, and user support/contact are totally in the right and we do need to press for change.

My next strategy is to attempt to contact various developers and leadership via other means such as associated universities or by personal email.

Please let us know if the transition still works for you. I have tried >10 times with thousands of addresses scanned without success and strictly followed the guide & tried all other tricks so far.

Hope ThomasPepperz can help or a new version of the GUI will be released very soon which includes a scalable solution to get our Iotas back.

All, I have good and bad news. The good news is: our IOTA are safe. The bad news: we can't access them for the time being.

Here is the confirmation that our Iota have been taken into custody by the foundation. For the moment, there is no way to get them back until a new version of the wallet has been released and a re-claim process has been implemented: https://forum.helloiota.com/PrintTopic105.aspx

Moreover, you can check your exact IOTA balance that has been taken into custody on this site by checking for the first 81 characters of the address you have last sent your IOTA to (or multiple ones, obviously): https://ipfs.io/ipfs/Qmeb4B5AEi5MWTreKPRtufBFRFWRVTpZkBpX6FeaXCAe3B

Each address is listed here and if you have not transitioned yet - like me - then you will see your address with the remark category":"CURL_UNUSED".

All of this is exactly true for me. I found my address in there including my correct IOTA balance. Thus, I am greatly reliefed now that our IOTAs are safely stored somewhere. I guess now it is only a matter of time until a new release of the wallet is published and we can re-claim our IOTA.

Best to check the source from where you have sent the iotas to your wallet. If it was Bitfinex, you can check in your account history for the correct address.

Hello everyone!

Thank you @mckalex for the update and your findings about what happen with our IOTA. I wasn't aware of the transition until today that I logged again in my wallet and my balance was showing 0.

I was looking for information for about 2-3 hours before I finally found this post which answer all my concerns. I also checked the list you provided and I found my address 👍. What a relief :).

Let's hope that the Foundation will release a the version soon with which we can reclaim back our IOTA.

So now ,following procedure to recover my Iota with version 2.5.3, i attached adresses to tangle and i recovered small part of my iotas. after generated more than 50 addresses. After , i checked in theadress list file and i found my addresses showin status "available". But i still not be able to recover the remaining iotas. Statuts "avalaible" means it's not falled in iota foundation ? What can i do to recover it ? Many thanks for your help.

Same thing happened to me. Keep generating addresses beneath the receive tab and also try increasing the min weight.
